Cheese Town becomes Cheese Toon this St Patrick’s Day weekend!
With the huge success of Cheese Town in London this Winter, the decision was made to take the event on the road and bring it to Newcastle Upon Tyne this March. Cheese lovers of the North prepare, as the team at Grate Expectations prepare to bring you the first Northern instalment of their unique food festival Cheese Toon. Friday 16th March 2018.
Off the back of the success of the launch of Cheese Town London in December and a subsequent event in January, the countrywide desire for cheese, cheese and more cheese is stronger than cheddar before! Moving from its original home of Brixton Rooftop in South London, Cheese Toon will take up residence in Times Square right in the heart of the Toon.
The Cheese Town collective will be bringing literally tonnes of cheese all the way to the Toon for the cheesiest event in the North East this year. With cheese specialised food trucks, the finest collection of DJs, live bands and interactive entertainment, all accompanied by a wide variety of drinks and a whole lot more, this is truly an unmissable event. Truly is the best way to begin St Patrick’s Day Weekend celebrations.
Traders include Parm Star who specialise in one of the North’s best exports, the Parmo! Spaghetti Monster also stop by with their incredibly cheesy mac ‘n cheese and finally Scream for Pizza who produce some of the finest Neapolitan pizzas in Newcastle (and beyond). More traders will be announced in the coming weeks all cheesier than the last! So, prepare your stomachs as we have cheese, cheese and more cheese all day long!
Visiting residents of Cheese Toon can expect to journey to a space quite literally good enough to eat, as the UK’s most popular cheese vendors once again come together to takeover. Those who purchase their ticket will be greeted by the delicious smells of baked brie and melting mozzarella as street food sensations cook up a cheese feast.
Throughout the evening, Cheese Toon will host a variety of masterclasses hosted by Mac to the Future, where everyone is invited to a weekend of demonstrations with plenty of tasters to go around. For those cheesy romantics out there, sharing cheese boards will be on sale with accompanying taster notes and distributed from a pop up cheese board shop.
For those looking to take their cheese weekend to another level, stay and enjoy the on-site bars with exceptional cocktails, draft beers, wine pairings for your cheese will be on offer as well as mulled wines and hot ciders. To round off your visit to Cheese Toon, dance off all your cheese indulgences as we invite DJs, bands and live entertainment to keep guests moving!
