Championship Racing Machine to Make a Pit Stop at Eldon Square this Friday
Eldon Square, Newcastle’s premier shopping destination, is inviting motorsport fans, aspiring engineers and curious visitors to get up close to a championship racing machine when the RAF Sidecar Team visits the centre this Friday, 18 September.
The team will be at St Andrew’s Way, outside Hollister, from 9am to 6pm, giving visitors the opportunity to explore the machine, meet members of the team and discover what it takes to compete in the British Sidecar Championship.
With riders and passengers working together at speeds of up to 150mph, the sport demands precision, communication and teamwork, alongside the engineering expertise needed to develop and maintain a high-performance racing equipment.
Visitors can take photos with the sidecar and find out more about the technology and data analysis that underpin modern motorsport. The event will also give students from schools, colleges and universities an insight into how STEM skills are applied in a high-performance racing environment, as well as potential career pathways within the RAF, Facilities Management and Engineering.

With a wide range of shops, restaurants and cafés under one roof, visitors can make a day of their trip to Eldon Square before or after meeting the RAF Sidecar Team and exploring the world of championship racing.
