Chance for festival fame awaits North East artists

New and emerging artists can now apply to be part of Fesitival on the Wall!

THE region’s bands and solo stars are being given the opportunity to perform on the same bill as Pet Shop Boys and The Libertines thanks to a new music partnership.

Since launching earlier this month, Festival on the Wall has joined forces with popular music venue O2 Academy Newcastle which will have its own emerging artists stage at the Northumberland festival.

Budding music talent can now apply to be part of the line up which will take to the O2 Academy Newcastle Stage and perform to thousands of music fans at the stunning countryside location near Hadrian’s Wall, from Friday 04 to Sunday 06 August.

Whether signed to a local record label, a regular on the gigging scene or looking for that big break, anyone can apply, with applications open now.

Dale Mason, festival founder and director, said: “Ultimately, Festival on the Wall is a festival for the North East, so we were really keen to create opportunities for local talent to have the chance to follow in the footsteps of our headline artists, playing to what will likely be their biggest audience. We are pleased to have O2 Academy Newcastle on board which regularly works with emerging acts and shares our ethos for providing a stage for those looking to break into the music industry or simply love performing. Applications are now open and we are looking forward to creating our line up and potentially discovering the next big artist set to hit the music scene.”

Jordon Ditchburn, marketing and programming executive at O2 Academy Newcastle, added: “Championing local bands has been part of the ethos at our venue for many years, with us using our O2 Academy Newcastle 2 space to regularly showcase unsigned acts. We are excited to be part of Festival on the Wall and fully support them in creating major opportunities for local artists.”

To apply to play the O2 Academy Newcastle Stage at Festival on the Wall this summer, send a biography, photograph and link to some tracks to [email protected] by Monday 06 March 2017.
