Celebrate Father’s Day with a Dabba Sunday Roast at Dabbawal
Forget the usual Father’s Day lunch. This year, Dabbawal is serving up a Sunday roast with serious spice, plus a complimentary bottle of regular Cobra beer for every Dad dining on the day.
With Father’s Day just around the corner (21 June), families looking for something a little different can celebrate the special man in their life with Dabbawal’s Sunday roast, where spiced starters, flavour-packed roasts and all the trimmings bring bold Indian flavour to one of the nation’s favourite meals.
And, because Father’s Day deserves a little extra something, all Dads dining at Dabbawal on Sunday 21 June will receive a complimentary bottle of regular Cobra beer.
Available at both Dabbawal Jesmond and Dabbawal High Bridge Street, the Dabba Sunday Roast is priced at £23.50 for two courses or £28.50 for three courses.
Guests can start with dishes including lentil and curry leaf soup with crisp naan flakes, Dabbawal signature salad with mangoes, oranges, apples, nuts and spring onions tossed in sweet chilli dressing, palak patta chaat with batter-fried spinach, sweet yoghurt and tamarind, onion palak bhajis, and beetroot tikki stuffed with fig and cheese.
For the main event, diners can choose from chicken tikka roast, roast salmon, lamb boti roast or roast vegetable bhuna. Each roast is served with saffron mash, gunpowder roasted potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and a choice of Rogan Josh gravy or Makhani Masala sauce.
For those with room for dessert, the menu includes sticky toffee pudding with a choice of custard or vanilla ice cream, and apple crumble served with warm cinnamon and vanilla custard.
Extras are also available, including Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and gunpowder chips, while children under 10 can enjoy a two-course roast for £15.
And if a Sunday roast doesn’t quite take your fancy, Dabbawal’s main menu will also be available to dine from, meaning there are plenty of options for the whole family.
Restaurant Manager, Betty Kurosz, said: “Father’s Day is the perfect excuse to get everyone around the table and enjoy something a little bit different. Our Dabba Sunday Roast takes all the things people love about a proper Sunday lunch and gives them the Dabbawal treatment, with bold spices, rich sauces and plenty of flavour. It’s familiar, but with a twist. It’s a great way to celebrate Dad with good food and good company.”
Dabbawal has been reimagining Indian food in Newcastle since 2008, with restaurants in Jesmond and on High Bridge Street in the city centre.
