Breast Cancer Campaign puts the FUN into fundraising intu Eldon Square

intu Eldon Square is supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October with four days of fun and fundraising, and ITV Tyne Tees presenter Pam Royle is clearing out her bra drawer in support. The Pink on the Tyne regional fund raising group for Breast Cancer Campaign will be raising funds and awareness for the charity at intu Eldon Square from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th October. Centre stage at the fund raising area will be a Bra Amnesty Box, where shoppers can drop off their unwanted bras which will be recycled to raise funds for the charity.Popular Presenter Pam, a mum of two, donated the first bras towards this year’s amnesty and said: “The Pink Ladies at Breast Cancer Campaign have certainly succeeded in keeping the public’s focus on the importance of fund raising towards research into breast cancer, and work very hard all year to raise both funds and the profile of the charity. All ladies are guilty of having old bras tucked away at the back of a drawer, so I’ve ransacked mine and am proud to be the first to donate this year! This clearing out process has a personal benefit as it also allows me the excuse of returning to the shops to stock up on new lingerie!” Visitors to the Breast Cancer Campaign stand, based outside John Lewis and Boots, will also be able to enter a free draw to win some great prizes, including tickets to see Kylie at the Metro Radio Arena on 11th November and one of five £50 intu gift cards. Waitrose intu Eldon Square is supporting the event on Saturday 4th October with a ‘Sweet Saturday’ themed promotion offering shoppers a variety of tempting treats like classic sweets, sweet bakes and a touch of fizz!  Dancers from the Tyne Theatre Stage School have created a special dance performance, showcased at 1 pm on Saturday. Joan Taylor, intu Eldon Square Marketing Manager, said: “ intu Eldon Square is always honoured to be able to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Once again this year we have created a towering Angel of Hope, offering shoppers the opportunity to make a wish for someone special by pinning a golden star onto the Angel Frieze in return for a donation to the charity. Everyone has a friend or family member who has been touched by breast cancer, and we all want to do the very best we can to support the fund raising efforts of Breast Cancer Campaign, and the advances in medical science that we hope these funds will maintain. Jan Casson, from Pink on the Tyne regional fund raising group, supporting Breast Cancer campaign, added: “Having the opportunity to fund raise from such a high profile site in the very heart of Newcastle city centre is a great way to raise much needed funds and to distribute information to the public. We are very grateful to intu Eldon Square shoppers and retailers for their ongoing and compassionate support.” BREAST CANCER CAMPAIGN intu Eldon Square Promotional Area (Outside John Lewis & Boots) 2nd – 5th  October 2014
