Blackfriars cooks up January lunch offer

A Newcastle restaurant is banishing the January blues by firing up a special deal for diners in 2015. Blackfriars Restaurant is treating customers to a ‘buy one lunch, get one half price’ offer during Monday to Friday lunchtimes this month. The offer is valid for advance bookings only, when ordering two or three courses each from the set menu. It cannot be used in conjunction with other offers such as Newcastle Restaurant Week (19-23 January) and drinks are excluded. Andy Hook, owner of Blackfriars, said: “We’re looking forward to kicking off 2015 by treating our diners to our hearty winter lunches, which provide the perfect pick-me-up for those recovering from the stress of the festive season.” Blackfriars received the Taste of England accolade in the North East England Tourism Awards and was voted Best North East Restaurant in the Licensed Trade Awards 2014. It is the oldest purpose-built restaurant in the UK, dating back to 1239, where it served as the refectory for the Dominican Friars.
