Blackfriars award-winning food to your door

The team at Blackfriars Restaurant has launched a new home delivery service.

Blackfriars at Home is bringing award-winning meals to its customers including popular dishes from the menu, family meals to bake in the oven and Sunday roast in a box.

The restaurant, which is currently named Taste of the North East, is offering its signature dishes including Northumbrian ham terrine, piccalilli, fennel, Smoked mackerel pâté, dill pickled cucumber, crispy sourdough for starters and Pan haggerty, spring greens, mustard cream, Roast pork belly, Keen’s cheddar mashed potato, braised leek, mustard and Vegan Curry of the day. For pudding choose from Sticky toffee pudding, salted caramel sauce, Chocolate delice, pistachio cream, blood orange or Roly poly and custard.  Prices are £9 for one course, £12 for 2 and £15 for 3 courses.  On Sundays customers can also enjoy Sunday roast in a box for £9.

The restaurant is also delivering family meals to bake including Luxury chicken, mushroom & tarragon pie and North sea fish with prices starting from £25.   Customers can also order 700g loaf of sourdough bread for £3.50.

The restaurant’s front of house staff has also devised a drinks menu including local beers and wines.

Andy Hook, owner of Blackfriars said:  “This is a very challenging time for all of us all and with the prospect of being confined to our homes for several weeks we expect people will be looking for a variety of balanced meal options over the course of each. We also wanted to cater for families who are perhaps looking for meals to cook and share which is why we’ve added our selection ready to bake meals. We’ve also added our delicious sourdough bread made daily by our bakers.

“This of course is not the first time our beloved friary has had to close. Our predecessors battled through the plague and Black Death back in the middle ages but still made it through. We are hopeful that before too long we can open up the doors to Blackfriars again and make it better than ever”.

We will of course be abiding all health and safety regulations for self-isolation and we will only be taking online payments and will be delivering food outside people’s front doors or can arrange collection from a secure, isolated area at Blackfriars.
