Heritage Open Days - African Footsteps Tour: Newcastle City Centre

Join African Lives in Northern England for a fascinating walk discovering the African and Caribbean people that shaped Newcastle's history as part of Heritage Open Days!

Starting at Royal Station Hotel, you'll hear songs by American musician and actor Paul Robeson - who visited the North East several times between the 1930s and 1950s - before visiting Central Station and hearing about the significance railways played in allowing abolitionists like Frederick Douglass to gain support from the North East against slavery in North American, and exploring other sites that provide a deeper understanding of the diverse people of our region.
