David Whitaker Fundraiser 2017: Live Theatre

This Event has passed

An evening of entertainment from Roots, folk, rock and colliery brass band DENNIS, Ray Laidlaw (Lindisfarne), actor and musician Pete Peverley and good time hokum blues from Struggle Buggy in aid of actor David Whitaker.

North East actor David Whitaker was a founder member of Live Theatre and had a long acting career including with the RSC, on film and TV. One of the original cast of The Pitmen Painters, he performed in the show in Newcastle, at the National Theatre, on two national tours, on Broadway in New York and in the West End of London.

David Whitaker suffered a stroke whilst on stage in July 2012. He has since been unable to speak and has very limited movement as he is paralysed down the right-hand side of his body. Intensive therapy sessions, not available on the NHS, are essential to enable David to regain some quality of life.

This evening has been put on by David’s friends and family.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to David’s continuous care and therapy.
All Welcome.
