Everything You Need to Know About: Newcastle Wine Week

Get set for the city’s first-ever Newcastle Wine Week…

Last updated:

If you’re a fan of fine vino, then you won’t want to miss out on an amazing event happening in the Toon this June – the first-ever Newcastle Wine Week!

Taking place over ten days, it’s a chance to sample the city’s finest wines at a range of brilliant bars, restaurants and hospitality venues.

Interested? Read on for all the info you need to know to make the most of Newcastle Wine Week.

What is Newcastle Wine Week?

It’s a city-wide celebration of Newcastle’s wine offering organised by Leah Newman, founder of Newcastle-based retail and wine Whispering Wine, with support from wine connoisseur David Harker of Newcastle Wine School.

The event aims to shine a light on the diversity of Newcastle’s wine scene by collaborating with the city’s best wine spots to offer fantastic, exclusive deals on glasses and flights throughout the week.

When is it happening?

It’s taking place over the course of ten days, from Friday 20th June 2025 to Sunday 29th June 2025.

Where is Newcastle Wine Week happening?

It’s happening at venues throughout Newcastle city centre and beyond. Participating venues confirmed so far include House of Tides, Black’s Corner at Fenwick, St. Vincent, Cavavin, Blackfriars, Dobson & Parnell and both branches of Kaltur – but more and more venues are being announced every day.

How does it work?

It’s pretty simple! All you need to do is purchase a Newcastle Wine Week wristband and present it at participating venues when ordering your drink and your exclusive discount will be applied there and then.

How much are wristbands and where do I buy one?

Wristbands cost just £14.90 (£12.95 plus a £1.95 booking fee) and can be purchased online via the Newcastle Wine Week website.

Wristbands will be posted out to you if purchased in advance, but if you leave it a little late and buy a wristband while Newcastle Wine Week is already happening you can simply show your email confirmation along with ID at participating venues – no need to wait for it to arrive in the post!

St. Vincent St. Vincent

How long are wristbands valid for?

Wristbands are valid for the duration of Newcastle Wine Week, from 20th June to 29th June – that’s ten whole days to enjoy the city’s very best wines at half the regular price!

What if I work at a venue that would like to get involved – is it too late to sign up?

Not at all – and the organisers would love to hear from you! If you’ve got some brilliant wines you’d like to show off during Newcastle Wine Week, simply email [email protected] for information on how to get involved.

Is there anything else I should know?

Naturally, Newcastle Wine Week is an 18+ event only and wristbands are not valid for anybody under the age of 18.

Remember that most bars operate a Challenge 25 policy so if you’re fresh-faced enough to be asked for ID, then don’t forget to bring your driver’s licence or passport with you!

Whether you’re a fan of fizz, go wild for a crisp white or rave about full-bodied reds, Newcastle Wine Week is the perfect excuse to enjoy a tipple or two while discovering what the city’s best wine bars and restaurant have to offer. Happy sipping!

Newcastle Wine Week takes place from Friday 20th June 2025 to Sunday 29th June 2025. For more information or to order a wristband, visit www.newcastlewineweek.co.uk
