Newcastle’s embracing the spirit of spooky season with these Halloween events that’re perfect for kids and families
Halloween happening during the half-term holiday doesn’t have to be a nightmare! We’ve got the details on all the ghoulishly good goings-on, so all you need to worry about is getting the kids out the house.
There’s plenty more treats than tricks here, from spooky trails and tours to creepy crafts and comedy, so make sure you don’t miss out.
Spooky Special Effects Make Up Class @ Laing Art Gallery
There’s some spooky special effects brewing at the Laing Art Gallery this Halloween, as SFX make-up artist and teacher Over the Winks shows 7-12 year olds how to transform themselves into some uncanny creatures in time for Halloween! All equipment will be provided, and attendees will have the chance to practice before diving into create their own monstruous masterpieces.

Spooky Science @ Life Science Centre
Life Science Centre is all about spooky science this Halloween! Your little monsters can have a go at creating a bone-shaking skeleton puppet in the Making Studios, become a mad scientist in the Experiment Zone, and enjoy the incredible new 360° dome show Bump in the Night. Plus on Halloween itself, guests can enjoy a spooky slime workshop too!

Rave Kidz: Halloween Family Rave @ Digital
Rave Kidz also make a chilling return to the Toon, bringing their Halloween Family Rave to Digital. Eldon Square is jam-packed with some frightening fun this Halloween, with a full week of free activities for brave families! Growing ghouls and wannabe witches can take on this thrilling trail throughout Eldon Square to discover the hidden Halloween word, and receive a spooktacular seasonal goody bag alongside an official Eldon Scare certificate of completion. Even better, it’s all in support of Tyneside & Northumberland Mind, helping to support mental health services across our community.

Spooky Night at the Museum @ Discovery Museum
Gather your ghouls, ghosts and little monsters and get booked up for some Halloween fun with Spooky Night at Newcastle's Discovery Museum! Put on your very best Halloween costume and join the museum for frightfully fun evening packed with a devilish disco beneath the Turbinia, creepy crafts and ghouilish games, spooky tales and storytelling, lots of treats (and no tricks!) - plus a fancy dress competition for both the kids and the grown-ups!
