Whether you’re showing off your superior intellect with a group of friends, or just fancy a different kind of night out, there’s something for everyone and some pretty great prizes to be nabbed into the bargain! So, conjure up your best team name, grab your pencil, and let’s go!

Northumbria University’s boffins are the ones to beat at the weekly Monday night quiz at 8pm during term time. It’s just a pound to enter, with a multitude of rounds that’ll put your general knowledge to the test. There are some great prizes up for grabs too, so get those thinking caps on!

The ForthPink Lane

One of the longest running quizzes in the city, The Forth’s popular quiz takes place every Monday at 8pm. It’s £1 to enter, with a £30 bar tab up for grabs for the winning team. While you’re quizzing, keep your thirst quenched with their fantastic range of international and craft beers and chow down on tasty pub grub served 'til late.

The Holy Hobo, Jesmond Three Sixty

If you’re looking for something a bit wilder, The Holy Hobo’s Big Fact Hunt promises a quiz with a difference every Wednesday from 8pm. This quiz is all about interactivity and depending on the whims of the quizmaster, rounds can include anything from showing off your dance moves to chowing down on a ghost chilli pepper - alongside all the usual trivia, of course. The rewards are pretty great too, with food and drink prizes and a big wad of cash at stake for winning quizzers. There's some great drink deals available on quiz night too and entry costs just £1.

Their moniker may be tongue-in-cheek, as Quizmaster Dipsy has all the answers at this popular pub quiz at the much loved Trent House near Haymarket. Kicking off at 8pm, and costing just £1 per person to join, your team can include six people who would take a share of the £50 bar tab reserved for first place. Test your knowledge alongside a pint of BrewDog’s craft beer and a slice of their superb sourdough pizza, every Tuesday from 7.30pm with their Mind Games pub quiz. Flex those brain flaps with rounds that cover everything from general knowledge to pop culture trivia and beer-based brainteasers. Entry costs £1 and there's some epic cash prizes up for grabs, the chance to have BrewDog pay your bar tab and a weekly rolling jackpot too.

One of the city’s quirkiest venues plays host to a weekly pub quiz every Wednesday, where quizmaster Danny ‘Eyeballs’ will put you through your paces over four rounds of brain exercise. It costs £1 entry per person, with teams of up to six people welcome, and a start time of 8.30pm. Prizes include cold hard cash for the winning team, and boozy treats for second place. If you haven’t got your brain plugged in that night and you come last, you’ll still earn some delicious biscuits for your whole team to enjoy!

Boasting good music, good food and good people, the folk at Alfie’s Bar are an affable bunch, and their pub quiz on Sundays features weekly themes, drinks prizes and cash too! It’s often free to enter, although occasional special themed quizzes have a small entry fee. You can be guaranteed of a fun and quirky session, and while you’re there grab a cheeky cocktail and a great burger or some of their famous fried chicken!

The Bodega’s pub quiz has become renowned for its prizes, but perhaps not quite in the way you’d expect.
