Everything You Need to Know About… The UK Top Influencer Awards

Influencers play an increasingly important role in our social media / digital world but they haven’t been properly celebrated for their work… until now.

This April, the inaugural UK Top Influencer Awards are taking place in Newcastle and it's all very exciting! We’ve assembled all the information you need about the awards and had a chat with the man behind them, Christopher Henderson.

What are The UK Top Influencer Awards?

The UK Top Influencer Awards aim to celebrate the unsung people of the modern digital world, people who are ‘creating change, inspiring others and bringing new ideas’. These influencers could be fashionistas, lifestyle gurus, tech buffs, activists or more – a diverse range of people united by the impact they’re having on the world around us. They may have millions of followers or are making waves in other ways. There are categories for everything from travel to fitness, beauty to business, nominated by the public and judged by a panel of insiders and industry pros.

“I wanted to create something new,” explains organiser Christopher Henderson. “An awards evening full of authenticity, enjoyment and integrity. Having many friends who are influencers, I wanted to create awards that weren't beholden to sponsors or organisers but to those who excel at what they do and need to be recognised for it.”

He's got big plans for the awards and hopes they become “the OSCARS of the influencing world, where those who achieve are recognised and celebrated.”

When are the awards happening?

The awards take place on April 20th at an event running from 7pm until after midnight.

Where are the awards happening?

The awards are being held at Domain, in Event Northumbria, part of the Northumbria University campus.

Christopher chose Newcastle as the location of the first-ever UK Top Influencer Awards ceremont for a specific reason: “The awards aren't just about celebrating The UK's influencers, but showcasing that The North extends well beyond Manchester and that London shouldn't have the monopoly on high profile awards. With Newcastle being around 3 hours or less from other major cities. with excellent public transport links, it seemed the perfect fit for our first awards.”

Who is hosting the awards?

The awards ceremony is being hosted by TV star and leading influencer Georgia Harrison. Harrison first came to the nation’s attention through a fleeting appearance on The Only Way Is Essex back in 2014, but went on to appear on the 2017 season of Love Island, where she was a firm fan favourite. Appearances on Celebrity Ghost Hunt and The Challenge: War Of The Worlds followed, and she’s now as well known for her Instagram account (1.2 million follows) and similar profiles on Tik Tok and X - the perfect host for event celebrating influencers.

What categories are there?

There are twenty categories in total, ranging from Top Nano Influencer to Top Social Justice Influencer, and Top Hair & Beauty Influencer to Top Tattoo Influencer. You can read the full list here. The nominees were all selected by public vote and will be announced shortly.

What happens during the evening?

The event is preceded by a VIP mixer hour from 5.30pm, with the public admitted at 6.30pm and the first part of the awards ceremony starting at 7pm. The ceremony will be in two parts and then from 9.30pm till midnight there’s going to be an after-party! (the dress code is simply ‘think OSCARS’).

How much are tickets?

General admission tickets are £50, but there’s a balcony option for £30 and a range of VIP options starting from £300 with stage-front tables, plenty of drinks and access to the VIP mixer hour. Full details here.

An evening of glitz and glamour celebrating the unsung heroes of the influencer sphere sounds amazing and it's fantastic that Newcastle was chosen to host the first-ever edition of the awards. To find out more and book your tickets visit https://uktopinfluencer.com/.
