No, this isn’t some elaborate April Fool’s Day prank we’re pulling on you - although, hats off to us, that’d be quite impressive. We are in fact almost four months into 2026! And whilst it’s already been an absolutely incredible year, there’s so much more to look forward to this month.
From mesmerising magic and theatre, to some of the biggest names in music taking to the Toon stage, we’re all spoilt for choice this month. Get the paper diaries out and the group chats loaded, you know what time it is…
To Kill a Mockingbird @ Theatre Royal
Master of the ‘walk-and-talk’ scene Aaron Sorkin opened his adaptation of Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird on Broadway back in 2018 – so it’s probably an understatement to say that the production’s UK and Ireland tour has been a long time coming! The show has been lauded by critics and audiences alike, enjoying sell-out seasons on both sides of the Atlantic, making it one that budding thespians won’t want to miss when it comes to the Theatre Royal stage this April.

Pete Firman: Tricks & Giggles @ Northern Stage
Meanwhile over at Northern Stage, Pete Firman is taking to the stage with his brand-new show Tricks & Giggles. The clue’s in the name here, so expect choruses of ‘how did he do that?’ and big belly laughs in equal measure. Whether you’ve spotted him on the Good Omens TV show, or recognize his signature sleight of hand from The John Bishop Show, it’s set to be a night at the theatre like no other.

Alex Warren: Little Orphan Alex Live @ Utilita Arena
Following the smash-hit success of his single Ordinary (trust us, you’ve definitely heard it at one point or another!) Alex Warren will be bringing his headline arena tour Little Orphan Alex Live overseas for the very first time. You'll hear plenty of tracks from his debut album You’ll Be Alright Kid, including Yard Sale and Carry You Home. It’s one you’ll be thinking about for an Eternity afterwards!

Moving Parts’ Easter Programme @ Newcastle City Centre
Moving Parts’ usual puppetry festival might not be going ahead this year, but rest assured that they’ve still got plenty of strings-attached fun to keep everyone happy! Tyneside Cinema’s Puppet Film Fest celebrates some of the very best live action and stop-motion puppet films and animations from around the world, including family favourites like Muppet Treasure Island, to the more petrifying puppetry, like Little Otik. That’s not forgetting that there’ll be plenty of talks, Q&As, and crafting courses to enjoy as well, so make sure you’ve checked out their website for the full schedule.

Blue: 25th Anniversary Tour @ O2 City Hall
All Rise for Blue this April, as they bring their 25th anniversary tour to Newcastle’s very own O2 City Hall. Dino Tales Live @ Tyne Theatre & Opera House
It’s a pre-historic party over at Tyne Theatre & Opera House this month, as Dino Tales Live comes to the Westgate Road venue. Wannabe dino rangers and their grown-ups will have to help find the lost baby Ankylosaurus in this immersive theatre show, complete with a dancing raptor, and Bruce… the mighty T-Rex! Featuring some of Europe’s largest walking dinosaurs roaming the stage, it promises to wow audiences both young and young at heart.

Day Fever @ Boiler Shop
We all know that Newcastle loves a boogie at the best of times, so Day Fever’s starting the party even earlier as they return to the Boiler Shop this April. They’ll be spinning some perfect party tunes – curated by Jon McClure of Reverend & the Makers, Vicky McClure, Jonny Owen and the gang – from 3pm, so you’ll be home in plenty of time for some toast and a cuppa, if you don't feel like crashing on your mate's sofa at 2am anymore.
