12 of the Best Sunday Lunches in NE1

Fancy a roast? We've gathered twelve of the best in Newcastle!

Last updated:

We love a Sunday dinner up here in the Toon – Yorkshire puds, roasties, and a mountain of veg, not to mention the gravy… our mouths are watering just thinking about it!

There’s no better time to dig into a roast, on a relaxing Sunday, when you fancy a bit of comfort food, so we’ve rounded up the best places to head to for your next slap up meal.

Victors, Newcastle Quayside

For a gorgeous Sunday roast and equally gorgeous interiors - book a table at Victors! Not only will you enjoy their stunning Quayside location, but a mouth-watering menu including the likes of zucchini and cashew bake, as well as focaccia and rosemary stuffed pork belly. Can't pick? There's even the Victors 'Trio' Roast, a selection of beef, pork belly and roast chicken served - like all their roasts - with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, mash potato, seasonal vegetables and red wine jus. Delicious!

Dobson & Parnell, Queen Street

Local favourite Dobson & Parnell has won multiple awards for its refined British and European fare and we're pretty sure its delicious Sunday lunches are a major part of the appeal. Their Sunday dinner offering is concise and classy with two dishes available for £27 and three for just £33. Why not start with the North Sea fishcake or chicken liver parfait before diving into roast beef, pork or chicken served with Yorkshires, roasties and veg? There are pescatarian and vegetarian options too and who could resist desserts like apple crumble tart tatin and sticky toffee pudding?

Tomahawk, Quayside

With its reputation for great steaks, it's should come as no surprise that Tomahawk does a mean Sunday roast too. Served carvery-style with all the trimmings, guests can choose from meats including roast turkey, roast minted lamb and gammon and opt for additional sides like pigs in blankets and creamy garlic mushrooms. There's even an "unlimited carvery visit" option if you're extra hungry!

Banyan Banyan

Banyan, Monument Mall

Banyan have some brilliant Sunday roast options, ideal for different group sizes and occasions. There are individual roasts - Black Angus beef, herb-roasted chicken breast, and a veggie/vegan pie - plus a sharing roast designed for two people, each served with all the trimmings. And, if you'd really like to make a day of it, why not go for their bottomless Sunday roast with two hours of unlimted Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, gravy and drinks?

Hotel du Vin, City Road

Sunday lunch at Hotel Du Vin is something else: whether you’re keeping it casual with the family, or dining in style, it’s up there with the best of them in Newcastle. Priced at £39.95 per person for three courses, start with the likes of sooups, charcuterie and salads from their iconic French Market Table before tucking into a choice of hearty beef or juicy turkey with all the trimmings. And to finish? How about a classic French crème brûlée or assortment of cheese?

The Bridge Tavern, Akenside Hill

The team over at The Bridge know the golden rule of Sunday dinner: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. They keep things simple and traditional with a choice of pork, chicken, or beef - all seasonal, locally sourced and served with the likes of roasties, Yorkshire pudding, honey-roasted parsnips sausage meat stuffing and gravy. Guests can opt for all three meats for a little extra and for the vegetarians and vegans, there's a tasty cauliflower steak.
