Party With Pride in Newcastle This Summer

Last updated:

The Pride party kicks off today on Nuns Moor! Time to don your finest colourful clothes and celebrate in style as a sea of rainbow colours descends on our city!

20 - 22 July 2018

NE1 is incredibly proud to be headline sponsor for another amazing celebration of LGBTQ+ life on Tyneside!

Newcastle Pride is back, taking over for a weekend of parties and pop stars at it’s new location on Nuns Moor!

There’s simply no place we’d rather be this weekend - get in on all the action with a lively line-up of more artists and party people than ever before.

This feel-good family event is an iconic celebration in the North East summer social calendar. With performing stars, cabaret shows, fairground rides and family zones, there really is something for everyone.

The 2018 theme is ’40 Years of Rainbow’, marking four decades since the famous rainbow flag made its first appearance at San Francisco Pride in 1978! So paint your faces, dress head-to-toe in colour and make lots of noise as our proud city comes to life!

The Pride party weekend kicks off today (Friday 20 July) with paid-for performances from the Vengaboys and Steps, as part of the Geordie Moor Music Festival. The free Pride celebrations will begin on Saturday 21 July with the big, bold and beautiful Parade taking place on Saturday afternoon. Join the crowds at Newcastle Civic Centre, following the fun-flow through the city before heading towards Nuns Moor for an evening of live music from headliner Alexandra Burke, as well as The Voice star Jordan Gray, DJ Michael Maddison, Lorraine Crosby and the winners of local talent competition, The Voice of Pride, Becca Richardson and Drag Idol, Gladys Duffy.

We’re ‘bringing it all back’ to Nuns Moor on Sunday for day two in the hands of pop-sensations, S Club and Gareth Gates.

The Pride weekend will come to a close at Newcastle Civic Centre with a Candlelit Vigil from 9pm. A quiet reflection as everyone gathers to appreciate how far we’ve come in the wonderful world of LGBTQ+ culture.

Newcastle Pride is the perfect opportunity to round up your family and friends, dress head-to-toe in rainbow and celebrate this iconic landmark event as it descends on Newcastle for another year! Cheers to '40 Years of Rainbow'!
