World Cup Kick Off at Discovery Museum

Get behind your team and celebrate the start of the World Cup in Brazil at Discovery Museum’s World Cup Carnival, Saturday 14 June, 11am – 3pm Photo/Filming Opportunities: 11.15am – 11.45am or 1.30pm – 2pm Brazilian Footie Skills workshops 12pm – 12.30pm or 2.15pm – 2.45pm Samba Drum Classes Discovery Museum has gone football crazy once more as the nation gets ready to cheer on England as they open their campaign to World Cup glory on Saturday 14 June. In conjunction with Newcastle United Foundation, Discovery Museum will be in the carnival spirit this Saturday 14 June, with a host of Brazil-themed activities including Brazilian football skills workshops, Samba drum classes and demonstrations, smoothie-making bikes, plus carnival mask making. There’ll also be a dedicated Panini World Cup sticker swap shop for visitors to swap any unwanted stickers for those all important ones to complete their World Cup sticker books, as Newcastle United Foundation have been provided with 1000 stickers from Panini. Carolyn Ball, Discovery Museum Manager said: “Discovery Museum is ready to get this World Cup party started and I for one am already hooked on the World Cup and there’s only been one game! I’m looking forward to welcoming visitors to the museum and hope they enjoy all that is on offer at our World Cup Carnival. I have my swapsies ready for the sticker swap shop.” Entry to Discovery Museum is free and all the activities taking place on Saturday are also free, however visitors are advised to register for the football skills workshops on arrival.
