For the Children
The British weather isn’t always something you can count on, and us Northerners tend put up with more bitter-cold temperatures than the rest of England, so most of our chosen activities you can enjoy out of the rain!
Newcastle is home to some of the most amazing and unusual buildings in the North-East, offering a diverse range of events to many thousands of visitors each year. Some of these include;
Discovery Museum is a science museum and local history museum situated in Blandford Square in Newcastle. They offer a range of fun and educational experiences for your whole family. With events such as ‘Terrific Turbines’, ‘Teddy Bear Tuesday’ and ‘Circus of Fools’, click here to find out what they have on over Easter.
The Seven Stories. – The National Centre for Children's Books is based in the Ouseburn Valley, close to the regenerated Quayside. There is no other place like it in the UK. Everything they do celebrates children's books, their creators and their readers, and they have loads of events on at the moment.
“The Easter Holidays are the last chance to explore our Illustrating Harry Potter exhibition. All the family can meet not one but two authors - Andy Griffiths and local author Chris Callaghan - over the Easter Holidays and everyone is welcome as we celebrate Maisy's birthday with story times and themed activities in the Studio.”
Life Centre - The International Centre for Life is a science village in the city where scientists, clinicians, educationalists and business people work to promote the advancement of the life sciences. With their ‘Robot’ exhibition, ‘Naughty Monsters in the Sky’ and the ‘SpongeBob Square pants 4-D ride’, plus a lot more the Life Centre can keep little people (and big) entertained for hours.
