Urban Night Feast returns to Newcastle with the

Urban Night Feast returns to Newcastle with the best street food and drink in the UK. Urban Night Feast is set to return to Newcastle on 3rd/ 4th & 5th October for three nights celebrating the best street food and drink the country has to offer. The 2013 line up builds on last year’s maiden event and will see fifteen of the most exciting vendors in the UK packing out The Boiler Shop, a stunning space in the centre of the emerging Stephenson area of Newcastle. Confirmed vendors so far include the mighty Big Apple Hot Dogs, Indian street food experts Horn Ok Please, wood-fired pizza specialists Fundi, burrito vendors Luardos and Mark Hix’s legendary street food cart, FishDog, with many more to be added over the coming weeks. The festival is also proudly announcing for the first time a special ticketed drinks experience supplied by a world-renowned mixology team. Fundi’s Charlie Nelson is similarly enthusiastic. “We can’t wait to show Newcastle what our fresh-out-the-oven pizzas are all about,” says Nelson. “The vibe surrounding the event is palpable – we can’t wait for October.” “Urban Night Feast is the biggest event in our food calendar,” says Gaurav Gautam of Horn Ok Please. “The response we received at Urban Night Feast 2012 was exceptionally motivating and exhilarating. After last year’s success, we can’t wait to return to UNF with our delicious, flavourful and authentic Indian street food.” “Mark Hix can’t wait to get up to Newcastle and finally get his fishdogs onto the streets of Newcastle,” says FishDog’s Kevin Gratton. “We’ll be singing ‘dog on the Tyne is all mine all mine’ all the way up there!” Those London-based traders will also be joined by some of the region’s top contemporaries, with a host of vendors on hand to show off all the North East has to offer. Local gastropub Broad Chare will be serving up scotch eggs, crispy pigs ears & pork pies, also introducing Pla’s Asian Kitchen from the Cafe 21 brand; serving up authentic thai street food, fresh baby coconuts and momofuku inspired pork buns, the Fat Hippo’s acclaimed burgers and naughty milkshakes while Northumberland’s Wylam Brewery will keep the craft beer flowing. Also regional newbie cooling it off with gourmet ice lollies Real Nice Ice. “Urban Night Feast is all about pushing the street food boundaries, introducing something new to the region and bringing the best of the UK’s food and drink to the people of Newcastle in a fantastic venue,” says founder Maunika Gowardhan, one of the UK’s best-respected Indian chefs & food bloggers. “There’s a thriving foodie scene in the North East and we can’t wait to tap into that with what promises to be a really exciting event this year.” www.urbannightfeast.co.uk
