Newcastle’s Tyneside Cinema is delighted to present an evening of film and live music on Saturday 21 December with a screening of the classic Christmas movie It’s A Wonderful Life followed by a performance by north east based folk group The Cornshed Sisters. Tickets for the Tyneside’s Night of Good Cheer are on sale now and include a screening of the ultimate feel-good Christmas movie in the luxurious Classic Circle of the Cinema’s historic art deco auditorium. After the film, the audience will be invited to an exclusive performance by The Cornshed Sisters who will be putting their spin on some classic Christmas songs in the intimate surroundings of the Tyneside Bar. The Cornshed Sisters are Jennie Redmond, Cath Stephens, Liz Corney and Marie Nixon – four singer-songwriters who live in Tyne and Wear. Their distinctive blend of guitar pop, folk tales, protest songs and country music have earned them critical acclaim and seen them support The Futureheads on their national tour. The group previously performed a sell-out Christmas show at Tyneside Cinema in December 2012, and in 2013 they were nominated for the Performing Artist of the Year Award at the 2013 Journal Culture Awards. Jonny Tull, Cinema Programme Manager at Tyneside Cinema said, “It’s A Wonderful Life has become a festive favourite with our audiences, with thousands of film fans coming to watch it at Tyneside Cinema every year. We’re delighted to be bringing it back to the big screen this December, and it’s a real treat to invite our audiences to join us for this one-off screening with The Cornshed Sisters, and make a night at the pictures even more special this Christmas.” It’s A Wonderful Life is screening at Tyneside Cinema every day from Friday 20 – Tuesday 24 December, including three special Night Of Good Cheer screenings followed by live music in the Tyneside Bar. As well as The Cornshed Sisters on Saturday 21 December there will be performances by jazz band The Maine Street Trio on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 December who return to the Tyneside Cinema having played at several previous Night Of Good Cheer events. As well as It’s A Wonderful Life and the Nights of Good Cheer, the Tyneside’s full winter programme features a selection of classic Christmas movies and special events in the week leading up to Christmas.
