Two of Newcastle’s Most Popular Hospitality Venues Introduce Outdoor Spaces for April 12 Reopening

Two of Newcastle’s most popular hospitality venues, Bar 52 and the Purple Peacock, have introduced outdoor spaces for customers to enjoy when they re-open on April 12.

Now it has been confirmed step two of lockdown restrictions will be lifted, Bar 52 will feature new outdoor TV screens on its patio area, which will be enjoyed by the 200 people who have already made bookings for the re-opening night.

The Budweiser-backed sports bar, situated on Pilgrim Street, offers live sports across multiple screens, an array of alcoholic and soft drinks and mouth-watering food, coupled with lively atmosphere and sports memorabilia.

From 12th April, Bar 52 will host an extensive programme of live entertainment and events, including live sports such as the highly anticipated football European Championships, which run from 11th June to 11th July.

It will return to showing live events inside the venue, in line with lockdown restrictions being lifted further, from 17th May.

The Purple Peacock has installed a brand-new outside seating area for 60 people, which will also host live entertainment as part of a packed events schedule that will continue when it can open its interior for guests in May.

The restaurant and cocktail bar, located on the 55 degrees roundabout, offers exquisite food, lavish cocktails and a wonderful décor and ambiance.

As well as introducing outdoor spaces, both hospitality venues have prepared operational procedures in addition to the government’s Covid-19 secure guidelines, to ensure the safety of staff and customers.

To keep staff and customers safe, risk assessments have been undertaken, furniture has been reconfigured to maintain social distancing guidelines, one-way systems have been introduced, and gathering limits will be enforced.

Phill Brumwell, Managing Director of the venues said: “Newcastle is famed for its nightlife and it’s something we’ve all really been missing. We’re really excited for April 12th – it’ll be great to have customers back enjoying themselves.

“It’s been a long time coming, but very soon customers will be able to enjoy a well-earned pint and food, while watching live sports on our new outdoor TV screens.  We’ve got loads of live entertainment planned, plus we have the Euro championships, which always gets the city going!  Everyone is keen to get outside, and bookings have been really brisk, it’s incredible.

He added: “We’ve all been really excited getting things together ahead of the re-opening. The brand-new seating area we’ve installed outside the Purple Peacock looks fantastic.  We don’t just plan to use this for the five or so weeks before the next stage of lockdown restrictions are lifted – hopefully we have a great summer weather-wise, and our customers can enjoy it for longer.”
