Tusk Festival returns to Sage Gateshead with exhilarating line-up
It's massively exciting times for the city and region as the return of the TUSK Festival for its 7th iteration is announced. From the 13th - 15th October, TUSK will once again bring its uniquely diverse programme of adventurous international music to the North East of England.
Continuing its partnership with Sage Gateshead, TUSK again makes full use of the landmark building, its flexible public spaces and truly high-end production values to showcase a TUSK 2017 line-up that is as unwavering as ever.
Once more, alongside a truly eclectic and international music menu and TUSK’s trademark slew of UK debuts, festival goers can again enjoy the festival’s renowned film programme, exhibitions, talks, installations, interactions and more, all curated to inspire the musically curious.
The announcements for TUSK 2017 are typically genre-transcendent, offering festival goers a unique opportunity to broaden their musical horizons whilst enjoying a rip-roaring festival experience. The line-up so far includes:
- Swedish punk schlock legends BRAINBOMBS, renowned for their vitriol and vision, performing their first ever UK show
- UK techno experimenter BEATRICE DILLON who makes music that sounds both every day yet utterly transformative
- The mangled yet silken metropolitan hip-hop cityscape sound of KLEIN
- The frankly fantastical and occasionally disturbing world of enigmatic Californian duo HANS GRUSEL’S KRANKENKABINET
- KINK GONG, the French field recordist who uses sounds captured in South East Asia and elsewhere and manipulates and interacts with them in ways that make them truly psychologically displacing and psychedelic
- ÈLG, sound manipulator, occasional collaborator with Ghedalia Tazartes and TUSK favourite Alan Bishop and producer of occasionally serene, (and occasionally manic) soundscapes
- Peerless Russian post-folk collective STARAYA DEREVNYA, performing in the UK for the first time
- SHAREHOLDER, the Edinburgh group that sound like Dead C and The Fall had a baby.
More acts are still to be announced, and the festival will also include films, talks and more, as well as after-hours action and exhibitions at The Old Police House and Workplace Gallery.
Tickets are on sale now, with 50 Early Birds offered at £45, and full weekend passes at £55, and day tickets at £20.
