The Botanist Blossoms in Newcastle City Centre

The Botanist, Newcastle’s latest arrival to the city’s food and drink scene is now open for business with an 85-strong workforce in place – a number set to grow over the coming months. The bar and restaurant venue, which has been highly-anticipated since announcing its expansion into the North East last month, is located at the top of the city centre’s Monument Mall. It will be the fifth and largest of its kind after successful ventures in Manchester, Leeds, Alderley Edge and Chester. The unique interior features an 9 metre tall sycamore tree as its bar centre-piece and both the terrace and dining areas serve as stunning vista points for views of Grey’s Monument, Grainger Street and well-renowned Grey Street. Also adding to the atmosphere, the region’s musicians will take to the stage for live performances every evening and for Sunday afternoon sessions. The Botanist Newcastle’s general manager Andrew Shiel-Redfern said: “To be able to offer live music to our customers seven days a week is something we’re really proud of and we hope will set us apart from other venues in the city. “We’ve got a fantastic team in place, from the bar and kitchen staff to the front of house and management members. We’re all really excited to see in our first month – and take on the challenge of the busy Christmas season.” Stephen Patterson, Director of Communications at NE1 Ltd said: "The Botanist is a wonderful addition to Newcastle's restaurant and bar scene, and a fantastic example of the city's leisure sector boom. “The building alone in the domed atrium area of the old Monument Mall warrants a visit with its impressive interior and possibly one of the best views in the city – down Grey Street. “With 85 new jobs already created and the prospect of more in the future, The Botanist has proved to be great news for the city's employment market as well as its leisure scene with a huge investment in staff training, which all helps drive up quality and standards across the board." Amongst the extensive selection of botanical-based drinks, bottled beers, ciders and cask ales are The Botanist’s sharing Watering Can cocktails. Bespoke cask ale-tasting and cocktail masterclasses are also on offer for group bookings. Paul Danson of Manchester-based Paul Danson Imagineering was behind the design of The Botanist Newcastle.
