Say Farewell to Peter Rabbit™ and His Friends
Families, art lovers and fans of Beatrix Potter are invited to a special event to mark the end of a spectacular free public art trail.
For nine weeks over the summer, individually painted sculptures of Peter Rabbit™ adorned streets and parks across Newcastle and North Tyneside.
And on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October they will all be brought together for one last time at a Farewell Event at Newcastle Civic Centre, before being auctioned to raise funds for St Oswald’s Hospice.
Visitors to the Farewell Event will be able to see 53 small and 43 full size sculptures and also enter a raffle for a chance to win their very own Peter Rabbit™ sculpture and a car.
There will also be the opportunity to see six sculptures which didn’t appear on the trail but were created specifically for the auction on Tuesday 13 October.
There will be face painting, refreshments and a last chance to snap up trail merchandise.
And some of the artists responsible for decorating the sculptures will be on hand to answer questions about their work.
Those who followed the trail on the map and didn’t get round them all will be able to collect the final codes they need to complete the trail and unlock any outstanding offers or rewards to collect their finishers certificate and sticker.
Visitor slots run throughout the two days, with a quiet hour from 10am for those who would benefit from a quieter Farewell Weekend experience.
Tickets are now on sale at www.talesonthetyne.co.uk/auction. They cost £8 per adult, £3 per child and those aged three and under can visit for free. A family/group ticket can be bought for £15* and admits up 4 people including up to two adults.
All proceeds support the work of St Oswald’s Hospice.
