Save big this summer with Nexus' Take The Kids For Free and Pop PAYG

As well as Nexus’ permanent promise on Tyne and Wear Metro and Ferry, you can now ‘Take The Kids For Free’ on buses in the region during the summer holidays, which started on Saturday 23 July.

Families have benefitted from over 200,000 free child journeys on Metro since Summer 2021, and Nexus are delighted that this is now possible on buses after a successful trial over Easter.

With rising costs of living and particularly petrol costs, Nexus hope this will make days out over summer more affordable for families. Find out more about Nexus’ Take The Kids For Free on buses scheme by clicking here.

Metro users can save even more money by opting to use Pop Pay As You Go (Pop PAYG) instead of paper tickets. Pop PAYG saves Metro customers 85p a day (compared to paper Metro Day tickets) so even if it’s only a couple of journeys a month, the savings add up – and by topping up online or at a ticket machine and touching in and out, it’s a much more convenient and cost-effective way to travel. It’s even available via GPay on Android phones. Find out how to get a Pop PAYG card here.
