Newcastle’s Summer Storeys Returns for Bank Holiday Rooftop Experience

A sky-high food and drink experience will be returning to the rooftops for a second helping this Bank Holiday Sunday, August 28, following the success of last weekend’s launch.

Summer Storeys – an exciting pop-up urban food, drink and live music event, burst onto Newcastle’s dining scene last week, with hundreds gathering on the on the roof of the Barrack Road car park at St James’ Park to sample the city’s newest party venue, featuring DJs, live musicians and independent street food and drink vendors from in and around Newcastle.

The organisers - the owners of popular eatery Jam Jar in Jesmond - are now building on the buzz created by the first event as they gear up for round two, which will take place on Bank Holiday Sunday, August 28, from 1pm – 11.30pm. This Sunday’s line-up includes Manny’s Pizza, Lola Jeans, the Grind, The Little Fishy, Chucho’s Tacos and Ouseburn Coffee Company.

Tickets for Summer Storeys cost £4 per person and can be purchased in advance at http://www.notjustaticket.com/events/836 for a guaranteed queue jump. Tickets will also be available on the door. Families and pets are welcome.

Organiser Josh Rose, co- director of Jam Jar Jesmond, said: “We were blown away by the fantastic response to our launch last weekend and would like to thank everyone who came out and braved the rain to support our local traders. We’ve had brilliant feedback – especially as we managed to keep partygoers dry underneath some spacious stretch tents!

“The weather is looking much better for the Bank Holiday weekend, so we encourage anybody who hasn’t yet experienced Summer Storeys to come down, try some delicious street food and cocktails, listen to some great music, soak up stunning views of the city, and even catch some rays.

“If the event is well supported then we hope to be able to make this ‘concrete jungle’ party into a regular fixture in the city’s events calendar. The location – with those fantastic views over the city – is unbeatable – and we now know that even if the sun doesn’t shine, it certainly doesn’t dampen the party atmosphere!”
