New bar and eatery to shake up City's dining scene

Newcastle will be spoilt for even more choice this spring, with Yolo Townhouse opening its doors!!

Leisure operator Danieli Holdings is set to invest £1m to bring its popular yolo® concept to Newcastle city centre within an impressive vacant property on High Bridge.

Following a successful 18 months with its first venture in Ponteland, which counts Ant and Dec amongst its fans, the name behind Hadrian’s Tipi winter pop-up has announced that the brand will take the form of ‘yolo Townhouse’, a three storey bar and restaurant located in the former Capology retail unit.

Creating almost 100 full and part time local jobs, each level will offer something different comprising a ground floor drinking and dining social space, first floor function area and second floor open-air terrace bar – as well as a third and final floor utilised for catering.

Ahead of its planned opening this spring, a recruitment open day is being held on Tuesday 28 March at Motel One, directly opposite the prospective site. Danieli Holdings is inviting the region’s talented hospitality individuals to attend between 10am and 7pm with their CV to apply for a range of roles from front of house, such as bar staff and junior managers, to the kitchen team.

The significant investment will see the building fully refurbished from the inside out, to dramatic effect. Award-winning Simon McIlwraith of Collective Design will act as the lead designer and the style will reflect yolo Ponteland’s contemporary interior.

Extended opening hours mean yolo Townhouse will serve up everything from breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner through to late night drinks. Based on the European menu which is currently available at yolo Ponteland, dishes will be home-made, using fresh ingredients to pair with a wine and cocktail selection to suit all tastes.

Nigel Holliday, Danieli Holdings business development director, said: “The brand new yolo Townhouse will be a unique venue here in Newcastle, building on the concept we’ve established out of town and creating an experience for a wide North East demographic. We’re looking forward to meeting and bringing on board new faces to be a part of our highly-anticipated launch.”

The announcement comes following a number of developments along High Bridge including 222-room Motel One which opened at the end of 2015 and more recently, Laneway & Co coffee shop, CrossEyes eyewear store and Northern Juice.

Danieli Holdings chief executive Neill Winch said: “We have been looking for potential locations for a second yolo venue for some time and High Bridge quarter provides the perfect opportunity as a thriving leisure hub made up of a mixture of businesses.

“As a brand, yolo is one we’re keen to continue to roll-out but for now we are incredibly excited and have all hands on deck for the impending plans in Newcastle city centre.”
