NE1 LTD ANNOUNCES DATES FOR THIS YEAR’S NE1’S NEWCASTLE FASHION WEEK 2013

NE1’S NEWCASTLE FASHION WEEK 2013
11 – 17 May 2013
3is the magic number for this year’s NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week as the event enters its 3rd year with a 7 day fashion bonanza. The dates have been set for Saturday 11 – Friday 17 May 2013.
Celebrating all that’s great about Newcastle’s fashion scene from high street, designers, vintage and independents all brought together during one week in May. Building on the success of the previous two years with designer involvement from Wayne Hemingway, Scott Henshall and Barbour, NE1 is working on this year’s line-up of designers and celebrities which will be unveiled in the near future.
A major milestone fashion event will happen on each of the 7 days with signature Fashion Week activities launched before the week gets underway including the search for Newcastle’s Most Stylish. The street style hunt will begin at the beginning of May with voting via NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week’s Facebook page and regular updates on the www.getintonewcastle.co.uk/nfw website.
This year the event kick offs with a major new addition to the programme, Newcastle Fashion Weekend a 2 day fashion spectacular which is not to be missed. NE1 will take over Northumbria University’s Student Union for Newcastle’s answer to the Clothes Show Live. The weekend will see catwalks themed as ‘Newcastle Does…’ vintage; designer; high street all hosted by fashion personalities and celebrities. Fashionistas will be able to satisfy their cravings for fashion and the hottest trends with shopping, catwalks, talks and stalls all under one roof. A packed two day programme of fashion events will be staged at the venue with weekend passes available at £5 or daily passes for £3. The event is expected to be a sell-out – so book early to avoid disappointment.
Central to NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week is the Northumbria University Graduate Fashion Show which this year will take place on Tuesday 14 May – again staged at its adopted home, the Baltic. Tickets for this event are like gold dust as all the major buyers and fashion pundits from across the UK converge on Newcastle to witness the latest crop of design talent displaying their collections and demonstrating what makes Northumbria one of the UK’s leading universities for fashion design in the UK.
Other events, already firm fixtures in the fashion week calendar, include Fashion Front Row, a showcase for North East’s design talent, which this year will be held mid-week on Wednesday 15 May at As You Like It. Previous years have seen glamorous, celebrity comperes in Jayne Middlemiss and Scott Henshall and this year the celebrity host has yet to be unveiled.
The grand finale of NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week event will be a closing party on Friday 17 May. In previous years the event has attracted celebrities including Black Eyed Peas front man, Will I Am and Dizzee Rascal – the betting has already started on who will make an appearance at this year’s event.
