Mother Mercy Launches Brand New Twist of Fate 'Magic and Mystery' Edition

Mother Mercy, the acclaimed and award-winning top 50 cocktail bars in the UK, is set to launch a thrilling and enchanting addition to its Cloth Market Bar nestled in the heart of Newcastle's city centre - Twist of Fate 'Magic and Mystery'.

The exciting tableside experience promises to be a game-changer for cocktail enthusiasts, affirming Mother Mercy's position as one of the top cocktail destinations in Newcastle. Inviting guests to embark on a magical journey where fate decides their drink of choice, this captivating experience is slated to cast its spell on guests calling them to embark on a journey into the unknown.

Twist of Fate 'Magic and Mystery' edition builds upon the huge success of the original Twist of Fate cocktail generator, launched in 2020 with the iconic Gum Ball machine. Ready for a refresh, Mother Mercy has introduced a bespoke roulette wheel with a mystic hands centrepiece cradling a crystal ball that holds your cocktail choice's destiny.

The excitement and interactivity of Twist of Fate 'Magic and Mystery' edition help those who can’t decide what to drink or those looking for a mysterious surprise…leaving it in the hands of fate. The newly designed roulette wheel will be available seven days a week and promises an unforgettable and whimsical experience for all at Mother Mercy Cloth Market.

The cocktails themselves draw inspiration from mystical and magical stories from around the world, creating an immersive and spellbinding experience.

Luke Riley, Mother Mercy's Bar Development Manager, shares his inspiration behind crafting these extraordinary concoctions: "The Twist of Fate 'Magic and Mystery' edition allowed me to delve into the mysterious and magical stories from around the world and infuse these narratives into our cocktail menu in a creative and unique way. Each drink tells a story, taking our guests on a journey beyond the glass. It's about creating an experience that lingers in the memory long after the last sip."

In addition to creating this mystical cocktail experience, Luke Riley has also recently been shortlisted for the prestigious Diageo World Class GB Bartender of the Year 2024. This recognition further solidifies Mother Mercy's commitment to excellence and innovation in the world of mixology.

As the Twist of Fate 'Magic and Mystery' edition prepares for its grand unveiling on Wednesday, guests can expect a blend of flavours and tales that transcend the ordinary, inviting all to surrender to the whims of fate and indulge in a cocktail experience like no other.

Step into the realm of the unknown, where every sip tells a tale, and every twist of the roulette wheel unveils a mysterious destiny. The magic awaits at Mother Mercy, where the extraordinary is served with every pour.

Mother Mercy’s Twist of Fate Drinks Menu:

1. Voodoo Zombie
A Mother Mercy rum blend with fresh grapefruit, grenadine, fresh lime, mango and smoked tea
[Strong, tropical vibes]
Inspiration: The Voodoo Zombie takes a famous classic cocktail, the Zombie, and adds layers of flavours inspired by the dark art of Voodoo.

2. Enchanted Fizz
Vitelli prosecco with wild strawberry, rhubarb and jasmine verte.
[Fruity, floral, Bellini.]
Inspiration: The Enchanted Fizz takes inspiration from the enchanting power of witchcraft. Enticing flavours of wild strawberry and rhubarb draw you in and then finish with a hint of jasmine flowers.

3. Drink Me!
Absolut Vodka with Luxardo Amaretto, Lillet Rosé, minus coconut, fresh lime, vanilla and cherry
[Smooth, fruit, sweet & sour]
Inspiration: Drink Me! is inspired by the 'Drink Me' potion in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, which was described as a cherry tart with custard, pineapple, roast turkey and hot buttered toast! Of course, we weren't able to get a whole roast dinner in there, but all the cherry tart, custard and tropical notes you would want.

4. Monkey Paw Sour
Discarded Banana peel rum with Courvoisier Cognac, fresh lemon, caramelised banana and masala spices
[Tropical, banana, sour]
Inspiration: The Monkey Paw is a short horror story written by the English writer W.W. Jacobs. In this story, a mysterious cursed Monkey's Paw, which was discovered in India, found its way into the hands of the White family, who found that the object would grant three wishes to the owner. Each of these wishes came with hellish consequences for interfering with fate.

5. Lions Mane:
Absolut vodka with Lillet blanc, roasted pineapple, fresh ginger, fresh lime and chamomile flowers
[Long, summery, citrusy, fresh]
Inspiration: Inspired by the famous novel The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S Lewis. This drink is evocative of the warm and lasting summer that came after defeating the white witch and the booming roar of Aslan, the magical Lion.

6. Mirror Mirror
Avallen Calvados with honey, fresh lemon, apple cider, raspberry, Szechuan pepper
[Red fruits and sour]
Inspiration: Mirror Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all? This drink is inspired by the magic mirror featured in the story of Snow White.
