Make a day of it during the school holidays with Metro

Tyne and Wear Metro is teaming up with local attractions to help passengers make a day of it this summer. With 60 stations around Tyne and Wear and lots of exciting attractions just a short walk away, being bored isn’t an option. And this summer – thanks to a little help from a new member of the team – Metro are making it even easier to plan a fun family day out. The iconic Metro logo is being brought to life and will be starring in a brand new TV advert. Metro’s friendly character will be meeting families at some of the region’s best-loved attractions and handing out free kids’ activity packs and exciting spot prizes. The TV adverts will run throughout the summer on 14 Sky channels, including Sky1, Sky Sports and Sky Movies, and will also be available to watch on Tyne and Wear Metro’s social media channels including Facebook, Twitter and You Tube. And to help families squeeze even more out of the school holidays, Metro has secured a host of special offers for passengers, including discounts on entry at several attractions and money-saving deals at a range of cafés and restaurants. Emma Brough, Customer Service Director at DB Regio Tyne and Wear, which operates the Metro on behalf of Nexus, said: “We’re encouraging our customers to make a day of it this summer by exploring as many of the fantastic places to go and visit located next to a Metro station. “With 60 stations across Tyne and Wear and frequent trains, travelling by Metro is the hassle-free way to get there. Plus children under five travel for free. So whether you’re planning a day out by the seaside or want to explore history at a local museum, we’ll help you squeeze as much fun out of the school holidays as possible.” For details of all the special offers, Metro visits and to watch the TV adverts, go to www.nexus.org.uk/metro/summer Make a day of it with Metro Where: Great North Museum: Hancock When: Saturday 18 July to Monday 20 July, 11am to 3pm What:    Squeeze as much fun as possible out of the school holidays with Metro.
