Life Launches Search for New Chair to Lead Next Phase of Growth

The International Centre for Life has begun the search for a new Chair as current Chair Fiona Cruickshank prepares to step down after more than five years in the role.

During her tenure, Fiona has led the Board with insight, enthusiasm and dedication, guiding Life through a period of change while remaining firmly focused on its mission to make science accessible for all.

Fiona, who will step down later this year, is an experienced entrepreneur who founded a successful pharmaceutical manufacturing business and has a strong track record in supporting a range of companies as an angel investor. She joined the Board in 2013, becoming Chair in 2020.

The search is now underway for a successor who can build on this legacy and lead Life into its next chapter.

Life Chief Executive Linda Conlon said: “Fiona has led the Board with clarity and commitment over the past five years, and we are incredibly grateful for the leadership and perspective she has brought to the role.

“The world is increasingly shaped by developments in science and technology, and the pace of change presents both opportunities and challenges, making Life’s purpose more relevant than ever.

“We are looking for someone ready to help steer Life through the next stage of its journey.”

The successful candidate will need to be a commercially astute, entrepreneurial and strategic leader with excellent communication and influencing skills, alongside the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with Life’s key partners.

They will also need to have a passion for science and technology as well as an affinity with the region and an understanding of the important role Life plays within local communities.
