The Ivy Announces Landmark Double Debut in Newcastle with The Ivy Brasserie and The Ivy Asia

The Ivy Newcastle is set to make its grand debut in the North East of England this autumn, with the arrival of its two landmark dining destinations - The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie and The Ivy Asia Newcastle.

Set to open its doors in the spectacular former bank building located at 102 Grey Street, The Ivy Newcastle will be the first time the brand has launched both premium restaurant concepts together in one city simultaneously and will be celebrated as its most northern dining venues in England.

Dating back to 1839, the Grade II listed building occupies a prime position on Newcastle’s iconic Grey Street, in the heart of historic Grainger Town and just moments from the Theatre Royal.

With seating for over 200 guests across both restaurants, The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie and The Ivy Asia Newcastle will breathe new life into the magnificent former banking hall, combining the building’s historic grandeur with striking contemporary interiors designed by renowned UK designer and artist Adam Ellis. Soaring 4.5-metre ceilings and original arched windows will provide a spectacular backdrop to two distinctive dining experiences, from bespoke wallpapers and illuminated green onyx in The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie to the signature glowing agate floors, hand-gilded ceilings and intricate glass detailing of The Ivy Asia Newcastle. Together, the two restaurants promise to bring a new level of glamour and theatricality to Newcastle’s dining scene.

Famous for its elevated all-day dining and timeless elegance, The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie will offer sophisticated yet accessible dining seven days a week, taking guests from relaxed breakfasts and brunches through to exceptional evening dinners. The menus will feature dishes to delight every palate, from contemporary classics and thoughtfully priced set menus to seasonal specials and much-loved Ivy signatures, offering something for every taste and occasion.

For those looking for a theatrical dining experience, The Ivy Asia Newcastle will combine bold Asian-inspired flavours, striking interiors and a lively atmosphere, creating an unforgettable setting in the heart of the city. Guests can expect an à la carte menu of beautifully presented dishes and hand-crafted sushi, alongside a selection of enticing and approachable set menus, perfect for everything from leisurely catch-ups to special celebrations with friends and family.

Leading the new restaurants will be General Manager, Beth Cole and Head Chef, John Guthrie alongside Brasserie Operations Manager, Rodney Prosper and Operations Chef, Clinton Woodhouse. Together they will bring The Ivy Newcastle to life to create an experience with impeccable service, incredible menus and true creativity that will have guests visiting time and time again.

The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie and The Ivy Asia Newcastle will also create 200 new jobs for the region with positions ranging from managers to roles within the service team.

Kate Cooper, Restaurant Operating Officer for the North, said: “We are incredibly excited to be bringing The Ivy Collection and The Ivy Asia to Newcastle for the very first time. Finding the right location in the heart of the city was incredibly important to us, and we couldn’t have asked for a more fitting home than this magnificent historic building on Grey Street, surrounded by Newcastle’s thriving culinary, retail and cultural scene.

“Newcastle is a city with such a strong sense of character and identity, and we are proud to be becoming part of its hospitality landscape. We look forward to welcoming guests from across Newcastle and the wider North East to experience everything both restaurants have to offer.”

The Ivy Newcastle Brasserie and The Ivy Asia Newcastle will open to guests in Newcastle City Centre this winter, with more details to be revealed soon.
