Huge indoor fanzone returns to Newcastle city centre for the Sunderland derby clash
Newcastle city centre will come alive on Sunday, March 22, as fans without match tickets are invited to experience derby day at NX Newcastle’s huge indoor fanzone when United hosts Sunderland at St James’ Park.
The latest chapter in one of English football’s fiercest rivalries gives Eddie Howe’s side the chance to avenge the last derby defeat, and supporters can still soak up the full matchday atmosphere in the heart of the city even if they can’t get inside the ground.
NX Newcastle is opening its doors super early at 10am ahead of the 12 noon kick-off, giving supporters plenty of time to build the atmosphere before the action gets underway live on the venue’s giant screen.
The venue has become widely recognised as one of the city’s go-to matchday destinations, having previously hosted huge crowds for the last Tyne-Wear derby fanzone and unforgettable scenes during last season’s Carabao Cup Final, when Newcastle supporters packed the venue to watch United lift silverware after defeating current Premier League champions Liverpool.
With scenes of fans celebrating long into the night, NX has quickly built a reputation for delivering some of the biggest shared football moments in the city outside St James’ Park itself.
Organisers are once again promising a matchday experience packed with black-and-white energy, featuring live DJs, special guest hosts, and crowd-favourite flag displays to help recreate the famous home match atmosphere indoors.
Located in the heart of Newcastle city centre, NX has established itself as one of the region’s leading live entertainment venues, regularly hosting major touring artists, club events, and large-scale fan experiences. Its spacious indoor setup makes it the perfect weather-proof destination for supporters looking to gather, sing and roar the lads on together.
With derby day tension, bragging rights on the line and both sides desperate to claim victory, organisers expect another capacity crowd inside NX as fans look to play their part in backing United.
Tickets for the fanzone are available now, with prices starting from just £8.
