Horticulture Newcastle set for Top 100 Restaurants Award

Popular restaurant and bar in Newcastle, Horticulture, is set to represent the city this Monday 13th June 2022 at highly prestigious National Restaurant Awards, ‘Top 100 Restaurant Awards’ ceremony, set inside the grounds of the opulent surroundings of the Hurlingham Club, London.

The awards have been the ultimate barometer of success for the finest eateries across the UK for many years, seeing the likes of multiple Michelin star venues fight it out to be labelled the greatest establishment across the land. Famous restaurants such as ‘L’enclume’, ‘Man Behind The Curtain’, ‘The Ritz’ together with local known places like ‘House Of Tides’ and ‘Hjem’ all feature in 2021’s awards.

This year the public across the UK were asked to vote in the ‘Food Lovers’ category, a chance for the public to recognize their favourite restaurants to visit, and amongst just 10 places are Newcastle’s very own Horticulture.

Mike Hesketh, venue owner explains “it’s been such a tough few years to be in the hospitality trade. We have all had to dig deep, to not only survive but maintain and to excel. Our food has always been at the forefront of our operation and we’ve always wanted to bring unique, flavoursome plates of fresh, season and locally sourced food; using refined methods but in a more relaxed, social way. So to be recognized at this level and at this stage on our journey is amazing!

"For my first restaurant and Peter’s first head chef role to not only win the ‘Best British Restaurant’ Prestige Award but also to be included to say that I’m hugely proud of all our team is an understatement and will be extremely honoured to soon be sat in a room with the likes of Mark Hix, Tom Kerridge and fello smoggy Michael ‘Ohare”.

The shortlist for the ‘Food Lovers Award’ has recently been announced and includes Michelin star restaurant Winteringham Fields in Lincolnshire, stunning seaview establishment in Wales ‘Beach House’ and also the Northumberland eatery ‘Eleven’.

The award ceremony will be held at the Hurlingham Club in London this Monday 13th June 2022, where together the world will find out not only who will win the ‘Food Lovers Award’, but also who the UK’s best restaurants will be.
