HOLLYOAKS HEARTHROB FOR NEWCASTLE PRIDE…

ONE of the leading characters in a top UK soap is leaving the North West to head North East this weekend, for an appearance at Newcastle Pride.
Actor Kieron Richardson, best known as Hollyoaks heartthrob Ste Hay, will be showing his support for the LGBT community by joining thousands of people who will descend on the region to join in the celebrations.
Kieron will be taking to the stage at the free event in Exhibition Park this Saturday (July 20) and introduce singing sensation Amelia Lily, one of a whole host of exciting performers lined up to appear on the day.
“I can’t wait to come back to Newcastle because it’s got such a great reputation,” said Kieron.
“I’ve only been once before, many years ago, but this is my first opportunity to support the gay community in the North East and I am really looking forward to it.”
Kieron, who also appeared on Dancing On Ice, has been part of the Hollyoaks cast for seven years, where his character is also gay.
His appearance will be one of the highlights of a packed schedule of events at what has become one of the UK’s biggest celebrations for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community.
Around 25,000 people are expected to descend on Tyneside for Newcastle Pride, which will start with a parade through Newcastle city centre to Exhibition Park where the concert will begin with Toyah and Katrina from the Waves among the many performers taking part.
“This year’s Pride is all set to be a fantastic event,” said Peter Darrant, Chair of Northern Pride.
“And we’re delighted that Kieron is able to take time out to join us.”
The event will also stage a health zone,women’s zone, a cabaret tent, sports arena, trans zone, dance tent, tea tent and a funfair.
