‘H’ STEPS back into his Technicolor Dreamcoat!
Having enjoyed sensational reviews, Bill Kenwright’s “Amazing”, “Superb”, “Wonderful” and “Brilliant” production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sparkling family musical continues to enjoy huge success across the country. Lead by Ian ‘H’ Watkins, Joseph bursts on to the stage at Newcastle Theatre Royal 23 July – 3 August.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has something for everyone. This colourful retelling of the biblical story about Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours sings out to young and old alike with a score which is crammed wall to wall with hits – including Jacob and Sons, Close Every Door and Any Dream Will Do.
‘A superb piece of entertainment. I was thrilled.’ Daily Mirror
Returning to the role of Joseph is Ian ‘H’ Watkins who sprung to fame in one of the biggest selling pop bands of the nineties. Selling 20 million records worldwide and with 22 singles to their name, STEPS holds some impressive credentials. The only British band to have had more top ten hits are The Beatles, and to this day, STEPS command the record for the UK’s biggest arena tour and still hold pop’s highest Wembley Box Office figures. Just last year STEPS reunited for a sold-out 20 date Arena Tour.
Ian’s move to the world of musicals came post STEPS after he graduated from The Royal Academy of Music. In addition to his rapturously received performance in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat at the New London Theatre, Ian has also appeared on stage in the iconic role of The Childcatcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Nick Piazza in Fame.
