Enjoy an Alpine sing-a-long at Antler Newcastle

East is meeting west at a new North East bar, where a popular oriental entertainment has a unique setting. Antler, the former Fat Buddha restaurant at 55 Degrees North, Newcastle, recently opened as the city’s first Alpine-themed bar and eatery.

And the £1m venture also has included a novel extra  - a private karaoke room for up to 25 people – which has been decorated in ski lodge style, right down to its fun fur throws. The venue, which also has an external garden complete with ski gondola seating, has accurately recreated a true Alpine feel, with a menu of classic dishes with a twist and specialist beers and cocktails.

And owner Gary Hutchinson believes that the karaoke bar will be hugely popular with anyone wanting to have a fun night and showcase their singing prowess. “There’s already been a great amount of interest in the room which is perfect for a group who want a fun night out or who want a private area,” said Gary.

And the venue has even come up with its own top 10 possible song choices –

  1. Ice, Ice Baby – Vanilla Ice
  2. Snow – Red Hot Chilli Peppers
  3. Frozen – Madonna
  4. Hazy Shades of Winter – The Bangles
  5. Ain’t No Mountain High Enough – Marvin Gaye
  6. Rocky Mountain High – John Denver
  7. Let It Go – Idina Menzel from Frozen
  8. Cold As Ice – Foreigner
  9. Baby It’s Cold Outside – Rod Stewart, Dolly Parton
  10. Cold Love- Donna Summer

While the karaoke room is available seven days a week, Antler is also running regular live entertainment and specialist events each week, including Fondue Bingo. “We believe we’ve got a unique programme for the city and that it doesn’t matter if people want a quick drink, some great food or a night out with a difference, we hopefully have it all.” said Gary.
