Dragged into the Past...and the Present

Some of the greatest drag acts of the past and present are joining forces for a special one-off show in the North East. Dragged Through The Generations, which takes place at Boulevard, Newcastle on Sunday, July 12, will act as a warm up for LGBT festival Newcastle Pride, which returns to the city the following weekend. More than a dozen acts are expected to perform, including North East favourites Ophelia B, Vicky Paris, Phyllis, Millie, Miss Lucy, Tess Tickle, Greta La More and Billie Raymond, as well as Boulevard’s own Betty Legs Diamond. Proceeds from the event, compared by Miss Rory, will be donated to LGBT charity, Northern Pride, to help fund Newcastle Pride and ensure it remains free to attend in 2015 beyond. Miss Rory said: “Dragged Through The Generations is a glitzy showcase in aid of a great cause, which is designed to evoke memories of times gone by.  Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success and we’re hoping this time will be another sell out.” Newcastle Pride 2015, which returns to the Town Moor from Friday July 17, will feature three days of live music and entertainment for all ages,, including headline performances by girlband B*Witched and popstar Belinda Carlisle. As well as Dragged Through The Generations, Boulevard, at Churchill Street, will also host the festival’s official closing party on July 19.
