Curtain up on Cinderella at the Mill Volvo Tyne Theatre

Writer and Director Maxie Peters recreates his favourite role as Ugly Sister Shaz (described by comedian Ken Dodd as ‘the ugliest sister’ he’d ever seen!) Shaz’s squabbling sister Trace is played by actor and musician Glen Joseph - fresh from his nationwide tour as Buddy in the hit Buddy Holly Story musical.
Actor, comedian and panto stalwart Charlie Richmond is the lovelorn Buttons, hankering after downtrodden Cinderella (Emily Swan) and BBC Newcastle radio presenter Sue Sweeney is the Trainee Fairy Godmother, hopefully ensuring a happy ending!
Oh yes she will! It’s panto!
Maxie Peters said:
“We’re now in our 12th consecutive year producing the Tyne Theatre pantomime, and we’re at the heart of Christmas tradition for many families who come to see us year after year. This year, we’re presenting the best panto of them all – Cinderella! We’ve a strong cast, great sets and amazing choreography by the lovely Emily Swan, who apart from playing the title role, has brought together a team of top notch professional dancers and Babes for what will be a spectacular show. Baron Hardup, Cinderella’s dad will be played by panto veteran Kevin O’Keefe, who has played every panto role imaginable - from Dame Trott to Tommy the Cat. We also welcome Christina Dawson and Sarah Badger to the company as Prince Charming and Dandini. With a live band, fabulous sets and wonderful costumes, this year’s production of Cinderella is promising to be our best ever!”
