CUPID LOOKS SET TO SCORE AT ST JAMES’ PARK …

CUPID looks set to score at St James’ Park next month as the stadium woos couples with fine dining rather than football. Sodexo Prestige, which runs the conference and banqueting facilities at the Newcastle United ground, is celebrating Valentine’s Day with a gourmet evening of food, wine and music on Friday, February 15. The celebrations will begin with a canapés reception, which will be followed by a four-course dinner, prepared by Sodexo’s team of award-winning chefs, with wines specially chosen to complement the food. A starter of warm smoked salmon with lemon purée and coriander pesto, will be followed by a main course of pan roasted Northumbrian beef with parsnip and potato purée, sautéed king oyster mushrooms, pancetta, butternut squash and a Chardonnay jus. Diners will then be served a dessert of lemon syllabub with limoncello – a lemon-flavoured liqueur – and dark chocolate and toffee mousse, followed by Normandy cheese with celery, grapes and quince jelly. The meal will be rounded off with coffee and truffles before the region’s newest swing star Glen Roughead takes to the stage to entertain diners with a repertoire of classic and contemporary hits. A vegetarian menu is also available and every woman attending the event will be given a gift as a memento of the special day. The Valentine’s Gourmet Evening starts at 7pm and tickets, which cost £59.50 per person, can be booked by calling 0191 201 8525 or emailing [email protected].
