Christmas Central Set to Arrive at Eldon Square with Family Fun Events Programme
Eldon Square, Newcastle’s premier shopping and leisure destination, has announced the arrival of Christmas Central in the centre, bringing festive cheer to the heart of Newcastle with a series of fantastic events for the whole family to enjoy. Whether it’s discovering the perfect gifts, meeting up for a festive meal or creating family memories, Eldon Square has everything Christmas, all in one place.
Elf Trail
Your Christmas starts at Eldon Square this winter from Friday 21st November to Friday 19th December, where families can take part in Eldon Square’s free festive Elf Trail, in partnership with Newcastle Theatre Royal. Participants collect an Elf Trail map and begin their search of the centre for hidden letters.
Completing the trail earns a certificate of completion and sweet treat, whilst parents can also sign up to enter a prize draw for the chance to win family tickets to Aladdin at Newcastle Theatre Royal.

Elf Fun Run
On Sunday 7 December, Eldon Square will host its annual Elf Fun Run, a 1km route through the centre suitable for families of all ages. Participants will receive festive hats and a medal on completion. Registration opens from 8.15am and the run will begin at 9.15am at the Northumberland Street entrance.
Tickets are priced at £3 per person and are available online – all entries must be pre-booked. All proceeds will support the Newcastle United Foundation, which delivers life-changing community programmes across the North East.

Elf School
Eldon Square’s Elf School gives little helpers the opportunity to become an elf for the day. Running on weekends at Eldon Square’s Christmas central, 30-minute lessons take place on 29-30 November, 6-7 December and 13-14 December in the Community Quarter.
Children will meet the Head Elf, wear a festive hat and rosy cheeks, enjoy a festive sing-along and story time, take part in a present stacking challenge, and make magical reindeer food. Each participant receives a certificate and sweet treat.
Tickets are £4 per child and free for adults. All proceeds support Marie Curie to help them provide care and comfort for families affected by cancer.

Christmas donation box
This festive season, Eldon Square is spreading joy by supporting families who need it most with a Christmas donation box, now back in centre. Working with two incredible organisations - Cash for Kids’ Mission Christmas and Evry at Newcastle City Council - the centre is helping to ensure every child wakes up to a gift on Christmas morning. While you’re doing your Christmas shopping, you are invited to buy an extra gift, big or small, to help make a child’s festive season brighter. Simply drop your donation at the collection point located outside John Lewis & Partners and Boots.
Helen Cowie, Centre Director at Eldon Square said: “We are delighted to offer a range of festive activities that bring families together while supporting charities from the wider Newcastle community. From our Elf Trail and Elf School to the firm-favourite Elf Fun Run, there are plenty of opportunities for visitors to enjoy the spirit of Christmas whilst making lasting memories at Eldon Square.”
With over 140 retailers, you can find the perfect presents for everyone on your list at Eldon Square, from high-street heroes to luxury finds. Eldon Square also has over 30 restaurants to help celebrate, share and unwind with delicious dining and festive treats.
