Charity Curry Event Continues to Grow

A charity curry night which has raised tens of thousands of pounds in locations across the country is returning to Newcastle for a second year.

Crabtree’s Curry began life more than 20 years ago in Manchester, when serious injury lawyer Richard Crabtree wanted to host an annual social event to bring professionals together to raise much-needed funds for charity.

The event has now grown to attract hundreds of attendees in London, Liverpool, Manchester and Cardiff, with each raising several thousands of pounds for local charities, and Newcastle has now become the latest regular location for the event.

Having been held last year in the city for the first time, with tickets selling out completely, it is now returning for 2025 and is expanding into a bigger venue to accommodate demand.

Crabtree’s Curry Night will be held in Dabbawal in Newcastle city centre on June 26, with all proceeds being donated to Heel & Toe Children’s Charity.

Richard, a principal lawyer at Slater and Gordon, has supported individuals and their families after serious injury for more than 30 years, and is a specialist in brain and spinal injury claims.

What started as a single fundraising event more than 20 years ago has now become something I never imagined it could be – but as well as being a brilliant occasion where people have a really good time together, we have raised very significant sums for charities over the years. That is what it’s all about and I am very proud that we have been able to make such a difference,” says Richard.

Newcastle is our most recent Crabtree’s Curry Night location and last year the take-up was excellent – we even had a waiting list for tickets! We are really looking forward to the event in June and would encourage anyone working to support people after serious injury in the North East to come along. Have a great night while making a difference to a brilliant regional charity.”

Amanda Tweedy, deputy chief executive of Heel & Toe Children’s Charity, adds: “Crabtree’s Curry Night has a fantastic reputation, and having attended myself last year, it’s also an absolutely brilliant occasion. We are thrilled that this year it will be raising funds for our charity, to support even more children with disabilities and their families to access therapies and services which hugely enhance their lives.”

Tickets for the event cost £50 and are available here: Crabtree Curry Night | Heel And Toe Ltd
