Press Night: Tuesday 23 September from 7pm A year and a day after it received its world premiere at Live Theatre in Newcastle the award-winning play Wet House by Paddy Campbell is making a triumphant return to the quayside theatre as part of an exciting new tour. The production, which was voted one of the top 10 plays of 2013 by The Guardian, received three awards at the 2013 Journal Culture Awards - Paddy Campbell for Writer of the Year, Wet House for Performance of the Year and Joe Caffrey for Performer of the Year for his roles in the Live Theatre productions Wet House, Cooking With Elvis and The Pitmen Painters. Directed by Max Roberts the play is set in a wet house, a hostel for homeless people where residents can drink alcohol. Audiences are invited to meet Andy, an idealistic young graduate who has just become the latest member of staff to be recruited at Crabtree House.  A comedy tinged with sadness and tragedy the play asks how do you keep your head when everyone else is off theirs? Wet House is the first full length play written by 34 year old Paddy Campbell. Joe Caffrey, Chris Connel, Riley Jones, Jackie Lye and Eva Quinn will all be reprising their roles and will be joined by Simon Roberts who will take on the role of Spencer. Paddy said: “I am thrilled that Wet House has been brought back for a second outing at Live Theatre. I couldn't have hoped for a better response to my first full length play and I'm delighted that it's also touring to Hull Truck Theatre and Soho Theatre. We've just finished our first few days of rehearsals and it felt like the return of a great friend, one that's liable to drink all your booze and pee on the sofa...” Wet House will open at Live Theatre on Wednesday 17 September and run until Saturday 11 October before heading to Hull Truck Theatre from Tuesday 14 to Saturday 18 October then on to Soho Theatre in London from Wednesday 22 October to Sunday 16 November.
