A double celebration for Mickey Mouse and the Tyne Bridge

Newcastle’s iconic Tyne Bridge turned 90 in 2018, the same year that Disney favourite Mickey Mouse celebrates his 90th anniversary!

Mickey Mouse was created in 1928 by studio head Walt Disney and American animator and cartoonist Ub Iwerks, and became the universally adored mascot of the Walt Disney company; Mickey Mouse is the ‘True Original’ who is still as popular and relevant to audiences 90 years later.

The Tyne Bridge, acknowledged as the original symbol of Tyneside, opened in 1928 after three years in the making. This 531ft, 7,112-tonne steel and granite structure has linked Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead for 90 years.

Worldwide celebrations are taking place this year to honour Mickey Mouse’s special anniversary, and here in the North East, Mickey will be starring in Disney On Ice presents Dream Big which plays at the Metro Radio Arena 2-7 October, when he’ll be joined by favourite Disney stars in a true icetravangaza!

Courage leads the way for Disney’s most adventurous dreamers at Disney On Ice presents Dream Big.  Join fearless Wayfinder Moana and demigod Maui, on an action-packed voyage to restore the heart of Te Fiti. The production is a spectacular show bursting with the much-loved Disney stars Rapunzel, Anna, Elsa, Jasmine, Ariel, Aurora, Belle and Cinderella, showcasing their strength, bravery and kindness that inspires generation after generation.

High-flying jumps, breath-taking skating and lovable Disney friends make Disney On Ice presents Dream Big an experience families will never forget.

Plus, arrive early to join a special 90th birthday celebration in honour of Walt Disney’s original dreamer, Mickey Mouse.
