Alter Ego: The Globe

North East jazz fans will again be treated to the incomparable Alter Ego. Since their arrival on the jazz scene in 2008, the band have been impressing audiences with a mix of up-tempo swing, hard bop, funk and latin music at venues and festivals across the region, and they're showing no signs of stopping. The group draw much of their material from the rich catalogue of original compositions created by the likes of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers,Hank Mobley, and Miles Davis. The result is a stylistically varied programme that can't fail to get your feet tapping. Expect tightly structured arrangements, harmonically rich ensemble passages, exciting rhythmic interplay and plenty of inventive improvisation.
