Everything You Need to Know About: 25 Years of Wylam

Wylam Brewery are celebrating their 25th birthday – let’s all raise a glass!

Last updated:

Believe it or not, legendary local beer-makers Wylam Brewery have been in business for a quarter of a century!

They’re marking their milestone anniversary with a brilliant day-long bash this June that’s set to bring 25 breweries from across the globe to Wylam Brewery’s home at the Palace of the Arts – and we’ve got the lowdown on everything that’s going on.

What is 25 Years of Wylam?

It’s only the biggest bash of the year, celebrating Wylam Brewery’s 25th birthday! They’re going all out too with a day-long international beer festival featuring street food, music and – of course – plenty of beers.

Wait – Wylam Brewery is 25 years old?!?

Yep! The brewery was founded way back in 2000 by John Boyle and Robin Leighton in a potting shed in the village of Wylam up the River Tyne. It’s come a long way since, selling its beers across the North East and beyond and moving to its current home at the Palace of the Arts in 2016.

When is the beer festival happening?

On Saturday 21st June 2025 – put the date in your diary!

Where is it happening?

It’s taking place at the gorgeous Palace of the Arts in Exhibition Park.

What’s going on during the festival?

The festival is split into two parts, kicking off with a day session running from 11am to 5pm and paying homage to the brewing industry. Twenty-five breweries from across the globe will be pouring their exceptional beers in Wylam’s Backyard Beer Dome as DJs get the good vibes going and a selection of former winners of Wylam Brewery’s legendary Food Battles dish up delicious grub.

The fun continues into the night with an evening session taking place from 6pm ‘til midnight that’s set to celebrate the Palace of the Arts and its transformation into one of Newcastle’s best entertainment venues since Wylam Brewery moved in. The Grand Hall will come alive with music with local legends Smoove & Turrell hosting and performing and more incredible musical acts and special guests to be announced soon. And don’t worry – the 25 breweries and Food Battle winners will be staying around to keep you fed and watered too!

Which breweries will be there?

Only some of the best breweries from the UK and across the globe! Newcastle’s own Donzoko Brewery will be there alongside Liverpool’s Black Lodge Brewing and Cloudwater Brewery from Manchester. Coming from further afield, there’s Brooklyn, New York’s Other Half Brewing, Browar Stu Mostów from Wroclaw in Poland and Denmark’s To Øl. And of course, Wylam Brewery will be pouring their legendary beers too!

Check out the full line-up of breweries on Wylam Brewery’s website.

How much are tickets and how do I book?

Day session tickets cost £18.50 and evening session tickets cost £29.50, but all-day tickets are also available and priced at £46. All tickets can be purchased via TicketWeb.
