It’s the kind of place you discover something new at every turn, and whether you’re looking for a new-to-you knit, or a stylishly quirky bit of bling, we challenge you not to come away with something. Split over two levels in its High Bridge Street store, it's one of the city centre’s coolest quarters and we can see how Retro has stood the test of time.

FLIP
Looking for that laid-back Americana vibe? Then get yourself to Flip, pronto. The shop sources good-quality, original merch from the USA, so expect kitsch Hawaiian shirts, authentic sweatshirts and plenty of flawlessly faded denim. With a collection of old license plates and trendy mason jars on sale to boot, you can even grab a spot of home décor while you’re in there. Stateside style at its finest.

The Grainger Market has really upped the trend factor in recent years. Gone are the days of veg shopping with your gran, now you’re more likely to find artisan bakeries and independent shops jostling alongside local produce and craft. One such little gem is The Yesterday Society, a miniature treasure trove that we can’t get enough of. Amazing retro costume jewellery, cosy old woollies and a dazzling dress or two.

Vintage at Number 18 specialises in wedding dresses from decades gone by, meaning you can look ravishingly retro on your big day.
