Last updated:

If there’s one thing us Geordies are proud of, it’s our beloved Quayside. Picture-perfect views, brilliant businesses, heaps of culture and gorgeous food aplenty - there’s something for everyone to enjoy down by the Tyne. With that in mind, we’ve put together a handy guide for you to enjoy the ultimate day out on the Quayside.

Start the morning right with…

A coffee at Quay Ingredient. Stop by this independent coffee house located on Queen Street, just under the Tyne Bridge for the perfect pick me up to kickstart your day. Go here for creamy lattes, perfect flat whites, a steaming cup of Ringtons Tea and plenty of soft drinks options. Why not grab a breakfast trio sandwich too? You simply can’t beat tucking into a sausage, bacon and egg sandwich, can you? Good vibes set for the day ahead.

Not quite finished shopping? Stop by LBK and pick up some gorgeous pieces for your home. Yes, that’s right, members of the public can shop here too. Fill your belly at…

UNOs Trattoria. Situated under the Tyne Bridge, this family-run restaurant serving authentic Italian dishes is a firm favourite in NE1. If you’re looking for perfect pizza and hearty pasta dishes then look no further. For us, starting with potato skins and king prawns in garlic is essential. For mains, it has to be their incredible spaghetti carbonara or pepperoni pizza, traditional and packed full of flavour. If you’ve got room for more then their chocolate fudge cake is a no brainer! Head down during happy hour and tuck into your favourite pasta or pizza dish for just £7.25. (Mon-Fri 12-7pm or Sat 12-5pm)

Finish your day with...

Cocktails at Pitcher & Piano. Picture this, the sun is setting, you’re sitting down after a busy day, you’ve got your favourite cocktail in hand and you’re laughing with your pals while admiring the gorgeous views of the Quayside that surrounds you. Perfection. For us, a Disaronno Sour, Flossy Bop or Blueberry Rush would be the cocktail of choice. Sweet, tangy and oh-so refreshing. Which cocktail would you choose?
