Friday 15 June is National Beer Day in the UK. We're celebrating in NE1 with our pick of brilliant bars, pubs and venues serving the best brews and hops in Newcastle.
THE BOTANIST
The Botanist is one of Newcastle's most popular restaurants and bars (particularly for their cool concoctions and delicious hanging kebabs), but they also have a beautiful beer garden that overlooks Monument Mall. If you're planning on celebrating this National Beer Day, do it in style by having some equisite food and a refreshing beer at this NE1 hotspot.
PITCHER AND PIANO
In a prime location on the Quayside, you can celebrate with a wonderful view of the River Tyne at Pitcher and Piano. Head to this super spot, grab a seat in the beer garden or terrace and set in for a wonderful evening with beers aplenty and spectacular views of the Tyne.
THE BRIDGE TAVERN
Located under the Tyne Bridge and in association with Wylam Brewery, this pub has its own micro brewary and creates 360 pint batches of cask and keg ale, but once its gone, its gone! The Bridge Tavern is an ideal pub for those after-work catch-ups over a beer or two.
THE BROAD CHARE
The Broad Chare's is a cute and cosy spot by the Quayside and house a whole host of ales from Wylam Brewery, which even includes their own label brew 'The Writer's Block'. The team here are dedicated to providing real, homemade ale and have regularly changing guest ales on offer too.
THE CLUNY
They've had the likes of the Artic Monkeys and The Vaccines perform here, but did you know they also serve a range of quality ales worth sampling? Located in the uber cool area of Ouseburn, The Cluny is a perfect hideaway pub where you can relax without the chaos of being in the city centre.
