Built as an experimental vessel in 1894, the Turbinia was the first steam turbine powered vessel in the world! Built on the banks of the Tyne and measuring in at an impressive 32 metres, the face of maritime history was changed forever as she clocked an impressive 34 knots upon her maiden voyage - the fastest in the world at that time!
